Why a licensed and insured website wins more jobs
A licensed and insured website is one of the simplest advantages a trade business can give itself, and most guys skip it. Plenty of contractors who are genuinely covered never mention it anywhere on their site. It just doesn’t occur to them that it’s worth saying out loud — but for a customer deciding whether to let you into their house or onto their property, it’s one of the most concrete trust signals you can offer.
It answers the question customers are actually worried about
Every customer hiring a contractor is quietly running a risk calculation, even if they never say it out loud: what happens if something goes wrong? A dropped tool that cracks the tile, a truck that dings the driveway, a job that goes sideways halfway through. “Licensed and insured” is a direct answer to that worry — it tells them there’s a real business behind the work, with something backing it up if something does go wrong.
The federal government requires certain coverage for any business with employees, and a lot of states add their own requirements on top of that — the SBA’s guide to business insurance is a straightforward place to see what actually applies to you. The point for the website is simpler: whatever you carry, customers can’t credit you for it if they can’t see it.
Most of your competitors won’t say it, even the ones who could
Plenty of guys who are genuinely insured never put it on their site or their Google Business Profile — it just doesn’t cross their mind as something worth highlighting. A licensed and insured website closes that gap for free: if you’re already carrying insurance or holding a license, saying so plainly is one of the easiest credibility wins available, because most competitors are leaving it unsaid.
Where it belongs on a licensed and insured website
It doesn’t need its own page or a big production — a simple, visible line near your contact info, in your About section, or right in the header is enough. The goal isn’t to bury it in fine print, it’s to make sure it’s one of the first things a customer notices when they’re sizing you up.
If you want to go one step further, put the same line on your Google Business Profile description and in your quotes. A licensed and insured website works best when the message is the same everywhere a customer might look you up, rather than living in one spot they might never scroll to.
If you’re already carrying it, say so. A licensed and insured website costs nothing extra to build and it answers a real worry every customer has, whether or not they’d ever ask you about it directly.
How we help with this
Building you a licensed and insured website is part of the standard job, not an add-on. Your license and insurance info is already one of the fields on our intake form — once you tell us you’ve got it, we make sure it shows up clearly on your site instead of getting buried or left off entirely.
If you don’t have coverage yet and want to look into it, we can point you toward ERGO NEXT Insurance (formerly known as NEXT Insurance) — a small-business-focused insurer that works well for trades and doesn’t require going through a traditional agent to get a quote. We’re not insurance agents ourselves and can’t advise on coverage details or policy specifics, but we’re happy to make the introduction if it’s useful.
