Privacy Policy

How On the Level Websites handles information shared through its website and enquiries, including contact details and privacy requests.

LAST UPDATED: AUGUST 1, 2026

Short version: we collect what we need to build your website and answer your questions. We do not sell or share your information with third parties. Everything below spells out exactly what that means.

Who we are

On The Level Websites is a website design and hosting business operated by George Jacobsen, an individual doing business as On The Level Websites, based in Chico, California and working with clients nationwide.

This policy covers onthelevelwebsites.com and any information you provide to us through this website, by phone, by text, or by email.

Information you give us

When you fill out our intake form, call, text, or email us, you may provide:

  • Your name and business name
  • Business address, phone number, and email address
  • Your service area and the services you offer
  • Pricing information you want displayed on your site
  • Photos of your work
  • Your logo and existing branding materials
  • License and insurance information, if you choose to display it
  • Login credentials for accounts we need to work on, such as your domain registrar or Google Business Profile

We collect the information submitted through our contact form solely to respond to your inquiry. We do not sell or share your information with third parties.

You choose what to send us. If there is something you would rather not provide, tell us and we will either work around it or explain why we need it.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, ours records limited technical information when you visit:

  • IP address and general location, meaning city or region rather than a street address
  • Browser type and device type
  • Pages viewed and time spent on the site
  • The website, search, or advertisement that referred you
  • Date and time of your visit

This is aggregate traffic data. We use it to understand which pages are working and which are not.

Cookies and tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies for three purposes:

  • Necessary cookies keep the website functioning, including page loading and basic security
  • Analytics cookies tell us how visitors find and use the site
  • Advertising cookies let us measure whether our advertising produces customers, and may show our ads to people who have visited before

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. The site will still work, though some features may not behave as intended.

How we use your information

  • To design, build, host, and maintain your website
  • To respond to your questions and provide quotes
  • To send invoices and payment reminders
  • To set up services you have purchased, such as a professional email address or Google Business Profile optimization
  • To keep business records, including for tax and accounting purposes
  • To improve our own website and evaluate our advertising

Who we share information with

We share information only with the service providers we need in order to do the work:

  • Web hosting and domain registrars, to host your website and manage your domain
  • Google, for analytics, advertising, professional email service, and Google Business Profile setup where purchased
  • Meta, for advertising measurement
  • Payment processors, to accept payment. We never see or store your full card number
  • Email and messaging providers, to communicate with you

We may also disclose information where required by law, in response to a valid legal request, or where necessary to protect our legal rights or someone’s safety.

What we do not do

We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent it, trade it, or provide it to data brokers. We do not share your customer information, photos, or business details with anyone who is not helping us perform the work you hired us to do.

We do retain the right to display completed client websites in our portfolio and marketing materials. If you would prefer we did not, tell us in writing and we will leave your site out.

Confidentiality

Login credentials, pricing, and non-public business information you share with us are treated as confidential. We do not disclose them to third parties except as necessary to perform the work, with your consent, or as required by law. This obligation continues after our working relationship ends.

How long we keep information

We keep project files and business records for as long as you are a client and for a reasonable period afterward, so that we can handle follow-up questions and meet tax and accounting requirements.

If you want your information deleted, email us and we will do so, except for records we are legally required to keep.

Separately, if a hosting account or payment plan goes unpaid and you do not respond to our attempts to reach you, your website files may be permanently deleted as described in our Service Agreement.

Security

Every website we build includes an SSL certificate, so information submitted through your site is encrypted in transit. We use reputable hosting providers, keep software updated, and limit who can access client information.

No website or method of electronic transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you may ask us to:

  • Tell you what personal information we hold about you
  • Correct information that is inaccurate
  • Delete your information
  • Stop using your information for marketing

Email georgej@onthelevelwebsites.com and we will respond within 30 days. There is no charge, and we will not treat you differently for asking.

California residents

California residents have additional rights under state privacy law, including the right to know what categories of personal information we collect, the right to request correction or deletion, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. Because we do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, there is no sale or sharing for you to opt out of.

Do Not Track

Some browsers can send a Do Not Track signal. There is still no agreed industry standard for how websites should respond to it, so this site does not currently respond to Do Not Track signals. You can control tracking through your browser’s cookie settings, and through Google’s own ad controls and Meta’s advertising preference settings.

If you are a client

If your own website collects visitor information through a contact form or similar feature, you are responsible for maintaining any privacy policy, cookie disclosure, or consent mechanism required by law that applies to your business, and for how that information is used and stored. We are not responsible for your compliance with data privacy laws. This is set out in Section 8 of our Service Agreement.

Children

Our services are directed at business owners. This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, email us and we will delete it.

Links to other websites

We link to Google, hosting providers, and other outside resources. Once you leave our site, the privacy policy of that website applies rather than ours. We are not responsible for how other companies handle your information.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and revise the date at the top. If the change is significant and you are an active client, we will notify you by email or text.

Websites for the working business.

Scope, ownership & payment details
  • Nothing is due until your approved site is live and working as agreed. Scope, price, and estimated timing are provided in writing before the work begins.
  • Two rounds of revisions per page are included before final approval. Extra revisions and changes after approval are quoted as add-ons or under a written change order.
  • Standard hosting is $37 per month for a five-page website, billed separately from the design fee. Extra pages or features may increase the hosting charge; any change is agreed in advance.
  • Payment plans consist of six monthly payments: $837 total for a new website or $717 total for a redesign. These totals are higher than the respective $697 and $597 pay-in-full prices.
  • Payment-plan installments must be paid on time. If a missed payment is not made up within 30 days, the plan is canceled, payments already made are non-refundable, and the site comes down until the remaining balance is paid in full. The monthly plan does not resume after cancellation.
  • The website becomes yours once paid in full. Your domain remains yours. Your Google Business Profile stays under your ownership; we are added only as a manager when needed.
  • Hosting must remain current for the site to stay online with us. Once the website is paid for, you can request your files to move it to another host.
